Camera Appears as UnknownBoot
When to use this article
- The camera is detected as
UnknownBoot. - The device cannot stream.
- VizionViewer does not recognize the camera correctly.
What this means
The device is likely in bootloader mode. Firmware may not have been successfully loaded, or the firmware may be corrupted.
Recover the camera firmware
- Open VizionViewer.
- Run the Recondition Tool to reflash the firmware.
- Do not disconnect the camera or interrupt the update process.
If the firmware update fails:
- Export the log file from VizionViewer.
- Try a different USB cable. A short, high-quality cable is recommended.
- Retry on another PC, preferably a desktop with a direct USB connection.
- Avoid USB hubs during the recovery process.
- Send the log file to TechNexion support for analysis if the issue persists.
Check the result
After reconditioning, reconnect the camera and confirm it appears with the expected camera model name instead of UnknownBoot.
If recovery fails
- This condition is typically recoverable.
- Unstable USB power or signal quality can cause firmware update failure.
- If the issue persists after multiple attempts, further inspection may be required.
