Software Migration for products with LPDDR4 4GB Memory
Introduction
In 2026, the memory modules were transitioned to Kingston LPDDR4 single-rank memory. While early product versions utilized Micron 4GB LPDDR4 dual-rank memory, supply chain constraints forced us to update multiple products to ensure uninterrupted production for our customers.
Hardware Impacts
There is no hardware change made to the module or product that will incur or require a hardware change to the customer baseboard or system.
Software Impacts
There are software modifications required to add support for the Kingston LPDDR4 single-rank memory to the bootloader. It is important to note that these changes DO NOT remove support for the older Micron 4GB LPDDR4 dual-rank memory support. Once these changes are included in your software, software will work on platforms with both Micron 4GB LPDDR4 dual-rank memory and the new Kingston LPDDR4 single-rank memory.
The following table lists commits made to support the Kingston LPDDR4 single-rank memory by product and software revision.
Changes are backported as far as u-boot v2018.03_4.14.98 for many platforms. If support for the platform was added later revisions, we have backported to the earliest revision where we had a stable release.
If a platform is not yet listed, please continue to check this article as it will be updated as patches are finalized and tested.
