AXON-PI is powered by 5V. This can be provided through connection to a host computer via the USB Type C connector. It can also be provided through pins 2 and 4 of the 40-pin Expansion Connector (J1).
There is a protection circuit to prevent the powering of the USB host (Type A Connectors) and USB OTG (Type C) when the unit is powered by an external supply through the expansion header.
USB Host Current
Some USB hosts are quite strict regarding the amount of current permitted to be sourced from their ports (Apple Macbooks with USB Type C interfaces are known to be part of this group). When connected to a MIPI-DSI display, the AXON-PI may draw more current than permitted by the host. In that case, connect the AXON-PI to the host through a powered USB Hub.
